Hello my name is Allison Therrien and I am from
Sabattus, Maine. I am currently attending New England Culinary Institute in
Montpelier, Vermont. I decided to come here because of the small class sizes,
and the use of local produce, products, and the friendly area. With the
associates’ degree that I will aim to achieve, I will put my skills to the
test in the real world as an up coming chef. I have had previous experiences at a
vocational program at my high school called the Green Ladle. There I learned
about baking and pastry, front of the house, sanitation, culinary basics and
basic knife skills. I enjoy baking and cake decorating the most just because I
love paying attention to detail and watching people enjoy the creations being
made in the kitchen. My goal after my degree is to work in the industry and continue learning
what the industry has to offer a place out there and then eventually own my own cafe' or bakery.
I have earned many awards in my life, mostly throughout high school. I am currently a member of the
National Technical Honor Society, and The American Culinary Federation. My family, friends,
and co-workers are the real reason that I have entered the culinary field because they supported me in all my
decisions and believed in the passion I have for baking and enjoy watching the products that come out of the kitchen.
"I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is
more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the
world.”
